Town Council Hearing on the Proposed Antenna Cluster

Recently, Lucent Technologies has approached the Fairfax Theater with a proposal to mount a cluster of mobile communication antennas atop the neon sign on the roof of the building, located at 9 Broadway in Fairfax. Mobile telephone antennas emit radio frequency radiation and these antennas would be broadcasting to the surrounding homes and businesses within 650 feet or so.

The current FCC guidelines only protect human exposure to such antennas within the first 20 feet or so, unless protective garments are worn. Based on a review of credible scientific information, for precautionary reasons, other nations are adopting more protective exposure guidelines. Fairfax residents and interested persons who want to foster healthy, sustainable communities are urged to come learn more about this complex societal and technological issue.

On Tuesday, June 5th at 7:30, the Fairfax Town Council will have a hearing about the proposed antenna cluster. If you are interested in this issue, please help in whatever way you can with turnout at the event. For more information on this subject contact the Council on Wireless Technology Impacts at 415 892-1863 or the EMR Network Website.
